Thawani Technologies LLC, the first non-banking payment service provider licensed by the Central Bank of Oman, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Munak to collaborate on providing integrated digital solutions and financial technologies for public and private sector projects in the Sultanate. This partnership focuses on integrating secure payment solutions across digital platforms to support scalable applications that comply with local regulations and contribute to achieving the national goals for a comprehensive digital transformation.
This partnership addresses the growing need for comprehensive, digitally-enabled financial services for low-income expatriate workers in the Sultanate of Oman. It specifically targets low-fee outbound remittance services and basic insurance, while also offering financial literacy programs that support long-term financial stability. Under the agreement, Thawani will provide secure and legally compliant access to essential services—such as international transfers and insurance—and will offer financial awareness initiatives through its application. In this context, Munak will support awareness efforts and assist in registering workers on the Thawani platform, leveraging its digital capabilities and workforce database to simplify access for unbanked and underserved segments.
In this regard, Eng. Majid AlAmri, Founder and CEO of Thawani, stated:
"This partnership aims to transform traditional payment practices into integrated digital experiences characterized by security, transparency, and efficiency. By linking payment solutions within the digital platforms that users, merchants, and institutions interact with, it contributes to accelerating the pace of implementation for public and private entities. This partnership reflects our commitment to enhancing the national digital infrastructure through secure and effective solutions, in full alignment with the applicable regulations and laws in the Sultanate."
On his part, Said Salim Al Shanfari, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Munak, added:
"True digital transformation is built on partnerships that share a commitment to progress, growth, building trust, and creating added value. Our collaboration with Thawani reflects our shared conviction in the role of technology as an enabler for delivering smarter and more efficient services to institutions and users. We look forward to working together to support Oman’s digital ambitions through well-considered, flexible solutions that are compatible with the realities and requirements of the local market."
The Memorandum of Understanding reflects the continued momentum of the digital transformation agenda in the Sultanate of Oman, as institutions increasingly seek integrated frameworks that bridge the delivery of digital services with a reliable financial infrastructure. In this context, partnerships between licensed fintech providers and platform innovators are playing a growing role in how services are designed, integrated, and delivered within the national ecosystem.
